The Audi Junior Series is a new initiative to bring a competitive environment just for the juniors who are in lessons with myself or children of students. The events are played over 9 holes alternating between the front and back nine holes. For many this is the first time out on the course and the fun environment will lead to the players development and understanding of the game.
20th Jan: First Leg - Faris Flies High in First Outing
Faris Jafar overcame poor conditions on his first competitive round of golf ever. The wind and declining visibility made it tough going but Faris was victorious over the back nine holes.
3rd Feb: Second Leg - McIlear Dominates round 2
Again the wind was strong as five boys competed in the second leg of the Junior Series. Lee McIlear showed what experience is all about by taking the lead early on and holding that position throughout. Faris Jafar continued his strong performance taking second place with Luc Garrett, Nyle Khan and Zayd Khan coming in joint third.
17th Feb: Third Leg - Two in an Row for McIlear
Warm but calm conditions were in store for 5 juniors as they headed out in the third leg of the Audi Junior Series. Lee McIlear showed intent from the start and his steady opening few holes gave him an unassailable lead over the other four boys. On the 15th Luc Garrett took a one shot lead over Faris Jafar and held on till the end. The final standing of the day were:
1st: Lee McIlear
2nd: Luc Garrett
3rd: Faris Jafar
4th: Zayd Khan
5th: Nyle Khan
17th March: Fourth Leg - Garrett makes a move
Two juniors braved the wind and haze on Saturday, after 5 holes only 2 shots separated Luc Garrett from Nyle Khan. Luc stood on the 6th and struck a nice 6 iron which found the front edge and he would get down in 3 to open up a convincing gap. With a best of the series 63, Luc puts himself into tied first position in the Audi Junior Series. With 4 events to go and the top 4 rounds selected its heating up at the top.
The next event will be held on the 31st March
